this never gets old

we're getting ready to move our offices to a new building. goodbye asbestos and mold! i'll miss you gas stationesque bathrooms! sniff sniff. and i'm also committing to dropping down to 1 pc in my new area as opposed to the 3 i'm running now. that means, moving anything that i keep on my hard drives (music, pics, porn) and putting it on my new pc - i would never be so stupid as to put that on the network people! and i came across this.....

whew! that's just good times kids! i love you moser!

the Resolutionaries

ahh, my favorite time of the year. a fresh start. as a friend said to me this week...

I was really going to try and get into the symbolism of the new year, I always loved the first day of school, new sharp crayons, new notebook, no new clothes b/c of the pea phlegm colored plaid uniforms, but symbolically it was a "fresh" start, nice fresh white lined notebook paper no doodles and the wire hadnt started to snag from the wirebound notebooks.

and i can kind of appreciate that sentiment (except for the uniform thing). one thing stops me though. the Resolutionaries. you know, those people that decide "this year is it! i'm going to get in shape! eat healthy! exercise!". i'm all for eating healthy. go ahead. i think you should. you should cut back on the McD's and Krispy Kremes. exercise? now that's where i take issue. cuz anybody who makes activity/working out a part of their normal routine, knows what the first 3 months of the year are like. for those of us who are active year round, this is the worst time of year. now you have to fight to get on the treadmill or the stair master, when just a month ago your health club was a virtual morgue.

me? i swim. so it's particularly grueling. i already have to deal with "the walkers". my friends have heard me complain about them year round. usually the middle age wives that want to walk off the pounds in a minimal-work-involved environment - disguised as a stress-free, injury-free excuse. these are the women that come to walk the lap lanes in the pool. good for them. i'm all for activity of any level. but these are the same women that don't want to get their hair wet so they glare at you when you swim by cuz you're splashing water on them. i actually had one woman stop me mid-lap to ask if i could stop splashing water on her and her friend. yeah, i'll get right to that. and then there's Perfume Princesses. they wear so much lotion and perfume, and refuse to shower before getting into the pool (cuz that would get their hair wet) that you can actually taste and smell the perfume as you go by them....IN THE WATER! that's insane. oh, and of course, forget getting a lane! i actually had a walker deny me sharing the lane with her. i asked (which i didn't have to do) if i could share with her cuz the other lanes had 2 people in them already. she said no because she was saving it for her friend. WTF? "i'm sorry, you can't get on that treadmill cuz i'm saving it for a friend". yeah right. suffice it to say, i jumped in and started swimming laps, making sure to splash more water than normal.

don't get me wrong. i think it's great to set new goals and make exercise one of them. i just look forward to March 1 when 80% of the Resolutionaries have given up and gone back to watching tv.
